# A chatbot is not an AI-native product

> Useful commerce AI connects evidence to a specific action, validates the change and shows what happened. Here is the standard we are building toward.

A conversational interface can make software easier to use. The harder question is what happens after the answer: can the team inspect the evidence, approve a specific action and see whether it completed?

In commerce, the distance between a recommendation and a reliable result is where much of the work lives.

## Connect an answer to a workflow

Consider an illustrative inventory recommendation: an item has been held for 90 days and may need a price review. A useful workflow brings together its cost, ownership terms, current price and recent sales context. It explains the proposed change and asks for approval when the operating policy requires it.

Before execution, the software needs to check that the relevant records still match the approved proposal. If another user has changed the price or the item has sold, the original approval may no longer apply.

That chain—context, decision, permission, validation and outcome—is our standard for AI-native commerce operations.

## Execution needs boundaries

AI can interpret information and propose an action. Reliable software must enforce inventory arithmetic, permissions and transaction rules.

An action history should show what was proposed, approved and attempted, including failures. Recovery matters too, but it is not the same as universal reversibility. A shipment already handed to a carrier cannot simply be undone.

## What we are building

[Console](/console) provides operational records for specialty resale and consignment. [Pulse](/pulse) uses Console and Shopify context for buying, pricing and inventory decisions. [Relay](/relay) coordinates Shopify supplier fulfillment and can operate independently.

Our vision is to carry more operational work across systems with clear permissions and evidence. Product pages describe the current scope; that ambition should not be mistaken for unlimited autonomous execution today.
